Music ... and some good Links, too ...

Here's a few pics that kind of give an idea of my music history
Playing music isn't easy by a long shot. Sometimes nothing seems to go right. But there's
always the times that EVERYTHING goes right, and that's what makes it worth while.

The Blue Steele Band
(Photo by Bobby Moody, an excellent Fayetteville photographer. He does a lot of work with the Cape Fear Regional Theater)

This is a picture of my band in the 90s. We were mainly a country band, as if you coundn't tell by the hats. It was taken on the balcony outside of the LaFayette Lounge behind what was the Heart of Fayetteville Motel. I am kneeling on the far left with the feathered hatband. We played most of the C&W clubs in the area as well as the various fraternal clubs. We also did the 'King Henry the Eighth at the Grand Ole Opry' River Show for the Cape Fear Regional Theater in 1992.

The Original Strangers
This was taken around 1968. We changed our name from 'The Strangers' to 'The ORIGINAL Strangers' after a threatened lawsuit by Merle Haggard. Seems as he was at the Seymore Johnson AFB NCO club on the same night we were at the Officer's Club. Both signs had 'The Strangers' on them. He had more money, so we complied.

L-R ... Don Cary, me, Frank Lee, Bob Barker. Chico von White (kneeling).

The Strangers
Going back to 1966 here, taken at Annex 11 on Ft. Bragg, NC.

L-R ... Marshall Faircloth, Ray Novencido, Don Cary, me, Roy Huber (not visible).

Modern Knights
Here I am playing bass at the Modern knights Band annual reunion at the VFW on Doc Bennett Road in Fayetteville, NC
The Unpredictables Band and Show
This was taken in Denver, CO, back in the earyl-mid 70s. We played at the same club for almost 3 years. I'm the one seated on the far left with all that long, DARK, hair. Wonder what happened here?
The Bayou Brothers

I met the Bayou Brothers at a St. Patty's Day party at Particks II in downtown San Diego. I had a chance to sit in with them for a few songs, and loved it.

CLICK ON the pic to go to the Bayou Brothers web site. Be prepared for the music!

Frank Hardwick
A very good friend since the mid 60s and excellent singer/songwriter/musician.

"The Day The Music Died"

He will be missed ...

Hope you enjoyed my little excursion through my music years.
This by no means brings them to an end ... Sonny
